In a London neighborhood, Benyamin Ahmed was carving out an unconventional path in the world of programming and digital assets. He began exploring computer code as if it were a set of entertaining puzzles, finding a new game in every line he wrote.

The Beginning, From Behind the Screen

At the age of five, while many children were learning to spell their first words, Benyamin Ahmed was learning how to write programming commands on a computer screen. 

This was a direct result of guidance from his father, a web developer working in financial services, who decided to nurture a love of technology in his child from an early age.

The father chose to start by teaching his son HTML and CSS, the two fundamental languages for building web pages. Despite how difficult these concepts can be for a child of that age, Benyamin showed a quick ability to understand and experiment. 

His learning journey, which was never just a way to pass the time, continued, and by the age of seven Benyamin had learned JavaScript, one of the most widely used programming languages on the internet, which allowed him to start building simple projects on his own. 

At the time, he had no idea where this path would lead him, but it was clear that he enjoyed every step of it.

Weird Whales and an Unexpected Digital Fortune

During a quiet school break, Benyamin Ahmed, who was no older than twelve, sat down to work on an unusual digital project: a series of digital artworks he called Weird Whales. 

The idea was simply to generate a collection of computer-made images in a pixel-art style, each featuring a whale with a different personality, using code he wrote himself.

What was remarkable here was not only that he created 3,350 unique digital images, but that he turned them into non-fungible tokens (NFTs), digital assets built on blockchain technology that can be traded transparently while preserving their digital ownership rights. 

This technology was relatively new even to many adults at the time, yet Benyamin grasped how it worked and engaged with it with the confidence of a seasoned programmer.

It took Benyamin only a few days to sell the entire collection, earning more than 300,000 US dollars, and he kept the profits in an encrypted digital wallet, since he did not yet have a traditional bank account.

In an interview with the BBC he said: "At first, I didn't expect it to succeed like this. I just thought it would be another learning experience."

But he later discovered that people saw value in what he had accomplished, because he had delivered a real project that combined art, programming, and the digital economy.

Passion Without Pressure or Force

Despite everything he achieved in the world of cryptocurrencies and programming, Benyamin Ahmed was not a child driven by greed for profit, nor dazzled by the spotlight of fame. He simply saw programming as a kind of play, a game that requires logic, imagination, and patience. In his interviews, he spoke the language of a hobby and curiosity, not the language of business.

When asked for his advice to other children, he said something striking: "My advice to children who want to enter this field is: don't force yourself to code."

The message here is about genuine passion. Benyamin found pure joy in programming, and his father, for his part, provided the environment.

This kind of upbringing, which offers opportunity without restricting it, is what opened the way for Benyamin to create something different. This skill could easily have gone unnoticed, or been wasted in an environment that does not celebrate experimentation, or been distorted by pressure and frantic competition. But in Benyamin's case, desire and opportunity came together at just the right moment.
